The UK is hosting the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow on 31 October – 12 November 2021.

    Who are the biggest polluters?

The top 30 according to worldometers.info shows the top 5 as:

    China
    United States
    India
    Russia
    Japan

But when you analyse the figures per capita (ie population) then the top polluters change quickly to as follows with only the United States keeping a top 5 place.

    United Arab Emirates
    Canada
    Australia
    Saudi Arabia
    United States

It's always amazed me, how our PM can spout so much 'green' talk on the one hand. Whilst (via Brexit trade-deals) encouraging the emission of more CO2, by wanting to boost the importation of foodstuffs shipped from far distant lands....E.g. chicken from the U.S. and lamb from Oz - has he never heard of food miles! - duh

These are the people who say the public must stay at home for their holidays to reduce pollution. These are the people who say we must pay more taxes to fight pollution. Ok, we must all do our bit, I see that...but hang on...........

We have delegations of people from every Country in the World. New Zealand alone sent 20 delegates. Each of these delegations travel with a large number of personnel - security, press, secretaries, advisors etc.,. They have just held one Meeting in Rome and then flew on to another in Glasgow. This huge association of people took over a whole group of buildings in Glasgow, sitting around in warmth and comfort and eating many delicious meals.

That is heaven knows how many aircraft spewing out toxic fumes from fuel, people of all nations from everywhere socialising in a time when we have not yet got over the pandemic, keeping large buildings warm with central heating using fossil fuels and expelling pollutants into the air, eating heaps of food with no doubt much waste that goes into compost heaps. While others of teh same ilk are travelling into outer space just fro the fun of it and polluting the air to a much greater effect. So who are the greatest polluters in the world? Those who go around shouting about it, the hypocrites that's who. Has anyone heard about that new development called video conferencing?

On the TV News at dinner time he wriggling around avoiding answering the questions, all the interviewer could get out of him about the Cumbrian Coal Mine was that 'it is not my decision to make', but he is against it.
