Have you ever wondered if you can light a BBQ or fire at National Trust Formby?
We caught up with operations manager Amy to find out more.

"We're keen to raise awareness that fires or BBQs aren’t permitted anywhere along the Sefton Coast. This is to protect all the wonderful wildlife here, as well as ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone who loves to visit.

Just one small spark can start a wildfire that would harm the wildlife living in this special, protected area. As the weather warms up, the grasslands and woodlands become even more susceptible to fire.

Additionally, beach sand can stay scorching hot for hours after a barbecue has been removed. This means patches of what look like normal sand might still be hot enough to cause burns.

Disposable BBQs, even when they seem ready to be thrown away, can also still hold enough heat to start a bin fire.

You’re welcome to bring a picnic though, or enjoy delicious snacks and refreshing drinks from green beach coffee (at Lifeboat Road) or Honest Coffee (at Victoria Road).
Thank you for your support. Together we can keep Formby special for people and wildlife.”
